The Extraordinary Support Program fills the gaps in traditional support programs by
providing for "outside the box" needs. Here are some examples of the support this
program has given.

Teaching a Hero to drive

Making "Welcome Home" banners for an ill wife

Providing groceries to a family when a check was delayed

Inviting Heroes unable to return home to a family Christmas

Providing a DVD player for a Hero to watch Dvds of his toddler

Providing a hotel room for Servicemembers to relax in after returning from Iraq

Needs are filled as soon as possible providing approval of a majority the board is
obtained. This can be accomplished by telephone or email when needed. Weight is
given to survival type needs (heating, food etc), then the needs of those deployed to
dangerous areas, then to those that can be filled more quickly or with mostly volunteer
hours. Necessary funds must be immediately available for a need to qualify.

Since this program targets "outside the box" needs, it is impossible to predict what items
may be needs. Therefore, item donations rarely assist in this particular program - cash
must be on hand for needs to be met. Many needs can be met even with smaller
donations.

This program combined with the HERO ADVENTURES program are where most cash
donations to LEAVES are spent.
